Warzone 2 Best Guns | Tier-Ranking Every Weapon In The Game

In this article, we have compiled a comprehensive ranking of the top guns in Warzone 2.0. Our team has meticulously evaluated and ranked each firearm currently available in the popular Call of Duty game. Additionally, we have curated the optimal loadouts for every gun, ensuring that you have the best setup for each weapon.

Call of Duty: Here’s our ranking of every gun in Warzone 2, from best to worst… | © Activision

To avoid any confusion, let me clarify that this tier-ranking pertains specifically to weapons in Warzone, not in any other game mode. Please note that we do have a separate tier list for a different game mode, which differs significantly from this one. In Warzone, we prioritize weapons with improved range, reduced recoil, and larger magazine capacities compared to the standard 6v6 experience.

Secondary weapons have been excluded from our list due to their rarity in obtaining full loadouts in Warzone 2. It is more common for players to purchase individual primary weapons instead. Additionally, our tier-ranking is based on the performance of these weapons for a player with moderate skill level. Skilled players can effectively use less forgiving weapons with higher time-to-kill (TTK), while lower-skilled players should stick to low-recoil weapons. However, this list is focused on the performance of these weapons in the hands of an “average” Warzone 2 player.

Please be advised that the Warzone 2 stats API is not accessible at the moment, preventing us from providing win rate or k/d ratio stats for these weapons. As a result, the following list is solely based on our own evaluation and testing. Rest assured, we will revise the list as soon as we obtain the complete data.

Best Guns In Warzone 2 | Ranking

Presented below is a comprehensive compilation of all the weapons currently accessible in Warzone 2. As a token of our appreciation for your support, we have thoughtfully included a guide to help you create the ideal loadout to accompany each weapon.

S-Tier Guns In Warzone 2 | The Absolute Meta

These weapons are the epitome of excellence, commonly known as the “meta” weapons. It is advisable to equip a primary weapon from this category in all your custom class slots. If you are solely interested in the top-tier weapons and not the entire ranking system, we have a concise article dedicated to that topic.

S-Tier: RAPP H (HK21) / LMG

Currently, the RAPP is the top choice for Resurgence due to its exceptional rate-of-fire, commendable damage, and satisfactory recoil management. While it leans more towards a mid-range weapon rather than a long-range one, it comes highly recommended for Resurgence and is undoubtedly deserving of an S-Tier ranking.

  • You can find the RAPP, as we absolutely love it.

A-Tier Guns In Warzone 2 | Competitive

You don’t have to replace these guns with S-Tier weapons if you like using them; they are still highly effective. While they may be slightly less powerful than the S-Tier weapons, they will outperform most ground loot and the majority of other weapons in Warzone 2.0.

A-Tier: Lachmann-556 (HK33) / Assault Rifle

The Lachmann was an impressive long-range AR that possessed minimal recoil and a commendable time to kill (TTK). However, it has unfortunately received a damage reduction in comparison to alternative choices. Consequently, it currently ranks at the A-Tier level.

  • Here is our

A-Tier: ISO 45 (UMP45) / SMG

In Season 4: Reloaded, the ISO 45 received a significant nerf, rendering it unable to effectively compete with the top-tier choices currently available.

  • Here’s the

A-Tier: Vaznev 9K (PP19 Vityaz) / SMG

The Vaznev boasts an impressive time to kill (TTK) and, most importantly, offers exceptional mobility. We believe that the Vaznev remains the go-to choice for highly skilled players who can leverage its exceptional movement capabilities. With this weapon, you can effortlessly outmaneuver your opponents and execute some impressive plays.

  • Here’s the

A-Tier: Lachmann Sub (MP5) / SMG

The Lachmann Sub is known for its remarkable forgiveness and comfort during usage, offering a naturally low-recoil experience and excellent handling. Although it once had a decent time-to-kill (TTK), it was unfortunately nerfed during the onset of Season 5.

  • If you’re searching for a Lachmann build, then…

A-Tier: MX Guardian / Shotgun

The MX Guardian stands out as Warzone’s inaugural fully automatic shotgun, boasting an impressive range uncommon for its class. By equipping suitable attachments and fine-tuning its performance, this firearm effortlessly eliminates heavily armored adversaries. Undoubtedly, it has emerged as the latest dominant force in the shotgun metagame.

  • Here is our

A-Tier: Victus XMR (L115A1) / Sniper Rifle

The Victus, classified as an S-Tier sniper, is among the three powerful weapons capable of delivering one-shot headshots in Warzone. When it comes to extreme long-range combat on Al Mazrah, the Victus stands out as the top choice due to its exceptional velocity.

  • These are .

A-Tier: MCPR-300 (M98B) / Sniper Rifle

If you’re looking for an extreme long-range sniper, go for the Victus. However, if you prefer a sniper with the shortest range and fastest shooting speed that can still take down enemies with a single shot, we highly recommend the MCPR. This particular weapon is perfect for taking on challenges in Ashika Island or Vondel.

  • This is the .

A-Tier: FJX Imperium (Intervention) / Sniper Rifle

Introducing the latest sniper rifle that exudes pure awesomeness. Its speed rivals the MCPR, and its bullet velocity comes close to that of the Victus. What’s not to adore about it?

  • I have a .

A-Tier: Tempus Razorback / Assault Rifle

The new assault rifle is incredibly impressive. It boasts minimal recoil, a rapid fire-rate, impressive damage output, and exceptional handling.

  • Here’s the

A-Tier: STB 556 (AUG) / Assault Rifle

The AUG performs well in both Warzone and multiplayer, although it falls slightly short in terms of damage dropoff at longer ranges for an assault rifle. However, this dropoff is less noticeable on 6v6 maps. Nevertheless, with recent buffs, the AUG is now highly effective and can tear through opponents. I recommend giving it a try!

  • To achieve the optimal loadout, .

A-Tier: ISO Hemlock / Assault Rifle

The ISO offers a high level of reliability and user-friendly experience. It eliminates the need for precise upper-chest or headshots, thanks to its manageable recoil.

  • Here’s a complete .

A-Tier: TAQ-56 (SCAR-L) / Assault Rifle

We are thrilled to announce that the SCAR has returned in CoD, and it is once again a top-notch weapon, unlike in MW2019! Whether in multiplayer or Warzone, the SCAR’s impressive low recoil and excellent damage at range make it an excellent option. Even the ground-loot version of this weapon is surprisingly good, which is quite uncommon.

  • The . can be found by you.

A-Tier: SAKIN MG38 (M249) / LMG

In Warzone 2, the SAKIN stands out as a prominent LMG due to its significant size and weight. However, unlike its counterpart in Warzone 1, this weight is no longer a significant drawback. In fact, it offers excellent range and impressive damage output, making it a highly desirable weapon.

  • This is the option we choose.

A-Tier: RPK / LMG

The LMGs in Warzone 2 are highly effective, with the RPK serving as a prime example. Its large magazine capacity and impressive range make it a formidable weapon. While it may be slower compared to assault rifles, the RPK has been dominating the meta for quite some time. The damage it inflicts is outstanding, and its accuracy is commendable. However, as Season 2 progresses, the SAKIN and ISO Hemlock have now taken over its position.

Here’s a complete .

A-Tier: Kastov 762 (AK-47) / Assault Rifle

The Kastov is our personal favorite “do-it-all” AR right now, and it’s becoming our go-to in rounds where we know we’re only going to be able to afford one weapon. Because while it might not have the best recoil control, it’s incredibly forgiving and will produce good damage values even when you’re hitting the lower body or extremities. And we’re keeping it in A-Tier even post-Season 2 nerf because it wasn’t too badly punished.
  • These are .

A-Tier: Kastov 74u (AK-74u) / Assault Rifle

The 74u is incredibly effective in regular multiplayer matches and can be considered the ultimate 6v6 weapon in MW2. Additionally, it proves to be a valuable asset in Warzone, complementing long-range choices such as the RPK. It can be seen as the perfect combination of an assault rifle and an SMG.

  • Currently, this is the present moment.

A-Tier: M4 / Assault Rifle

Thanks to recent improvements, the M4 has become relevant once again. Although it still exhibits noticeable visual recoil, it has become much more competitive. We find it more suitable for mid-range engagements or Resurgence-style gameplay rather than as a traditional long-range assault rifle.

  • We possess a comprehensive .

A-Tier: TAQ-V (SCAR-H) / Battle Rifle

The upgraded SCAR in Warzone surpasses our expectations with its increased weight and exceptional firepower, delivering immense damage per magazine. Unlike the TAQ-M, it conveniently utilizes AR ammunition. However, due to its limited usability in specific situations, it falls short of attaining the S-Tier status.

  • By equipping the TAQ-V with suitable enhancements, it can become an unstoppable force in Warzone.

A-Tier: Kastov 545 (AK-74) / Assault Rifle

After receiving a recent buff, the 545 has slightly improved, making it acceptable enough to reach the A-Tier, although it still falls short when compared to the Kastov 762, which is superior in terms of damage and overall performance.

  • What are you searching for?

A-Tier: Fennec 45 (KRISS Vector) / SMG

After the Season 2 patch, the Fennec, which was once severely damaged, was balanced to match the performance of other SMGs. Though it remains powerful, it no longer holds the top spot in the meta.

  • Here’s our recommendation for optimal attachments and tuning.

A-Tier: VEL 46 (MP7) / SMG

Similar to MW2019’s MP7, the VEL 46 may not have an incredibly fast time-to-kill or the highest mobility among SMGs. However, it is user-friendly and its remarkably low recoil allows it to be effective even at impressive distances for an SMG. Moreover, the VEL 46 has received a recent buff, making it worth giving it a shot!

  • Here’s the .

A-Tier: RAAL MG (XM250) / LMG

Similar to the RPK, the RAAL has been downgraded a tier due to the Season 2 nerf. Although still a formidable weapon, there are now superior alternatives available.

  • The . can be located.

A-Tier: Signal 50 (GM6 Lynx) / Sniper Rifle

Despite being nerfed recently, The Signal remains an A-Tier sniper due to its exceptional speed and minimal damage sacrifice. Its effectiveness is particularly evident in games that demand multiple headshots.

  • Looking for a Signal loadout? No worries, we’ve got you covered with the .

B-Tier Guns In Warzone 2 | B-Viable

These weapons are on the verge of being usable. They can hold their own against the majority of ground loot options and outperform the lower-tier weapons. However, it is advisable not to include them in any of your 10 custom class slots.

B-Tier: Chimera (Honey Badger) / Assault Rifle

The Chimera is an effective sniper support that also pairs nicely with heavy LMGs. Its versatility lies in the perfect balance it strikes between ARs and SMGs. If future updates were to nerf other weapons, particularly the Kastov 74u, we might witness the Chimera climbing even higher in popularity.

  • Here is our

B-Tier: M13B (SIG MCX) / Assault Rifle

The M13 has made a comeback, proving to be a reliable assault rifle that shines in long-range combat due to its remarkably minimal recoil. Although its damage per round may not be extraordinary, it remains a viable option in Warzone 2 due to the game’s extremely low time to kill (TTK).

  • We’ve got a .

B-Tier: FR-Avancer / Famas

The recently introduced assault rifle specializes in close and medium-range combat, similar to the Chimera and the 74u. Despite its significant recoil, it remains proficient in this role. The trade-off for its recoil is a commendable time-to-kill (TTK) at close range, courtesy of its exceptional Fire Rate. However, the excessive recoil proves to be a challenge for many users.

B-Tier: Cronen Squall / Battle Rifle

The Cronen Squall can be seen as an inferior version of the TAQ-V, resembling a bulky assault rifle. While it offers a decent time-to-kill (TTK), its recoil performance is less than satisfactory.

  • Here is a comprehensive manual for the .

B-Tier: Minibak (PP19 Bizon) / SMG

In the past, the Minibak held a higher position on the list, but it experienced an unexpected and severe nerf in a recent patch by IW. However, its default 64 rounds and exceptional strafe speeds still provide significant advantages, making it impossible to justify ranking the Minibak any lower than B-Tier.

  • The . can be found by you.

B-Tier: PDSW 528 (P90) / SMG

By default, the P90 comes with a 50-round magazine and impressive bullet velocity. However, it falls short when dealing with armored targets, making it less effective in such situations. It is better suited for multiplayer gameplay.

  • Click on this link to locate the information.

B-Tier: FSS Hurricane (AR-57) / SMG

When it comes to stability, the FSS Hurricane stands out with its default 50-round magazines. Unlike the P90, which also offers the same capacity, the FSS Hurricane surpasses it by delivering significant damage, making it a formidable weapon in gunfights within the 15-25 meter range.

  • Click on the provided link to locate the information.

B-Tier: Lachmann Shroud (MP5SD) / SMG

Many individuals may easily disregard this weapon due to their dislike for a burst or single-fire SMG, and that’s understandable. Nevertheless, despite this notable disadvantage, we must acknowledge that the Lachmann Shroud possesses an impressive time-to-kill (TTK) for an SMG. With the right skills, it can certainly remain a viable option.

B-Tier: HCR-556 (AUG HBAR) / LMG

This LMG is likely the most lightweight among its counterparts, making it possible to consider using it as a primary weapon. However, it does have a drawback of having a lesser time-to-kill at long distances compared to other LMGs. Nevertheless, its performance is sufficient to be classified as a B-Tier weapon.

  • You want .

B-Tier: 556 Icarus (MCR) / LMG

Similar to the HCR, the Icarus is a relatively lightweight weapon. Consequently, its time to kill (TTK) at long range is slightly inferior compared to alternative choices. Additionally, the Icarus exhibits subpar recoil control for an LMG. However, its decent handling speeds make it surprisingly effective in close and mid-range combat.

  • The . can be found by you.

B-Tier: EBR-14 (Mk 14 EBR) / Marksman Rifle

Indeed, the EBR has finally proven its worth. Surprising, isn’t it? Previously deemed ineffective in Warzone 1, this weapon now boasts a considerably higher damage output per shot in Warzone 2. However, it does require a skilled trigger finger and is best suited for specific situations (which is why it ranks in the B-Tier rather than A). Nonetheless, due to the extended duration of long-range encounters, the M14 EBR can finally hold its own against alternative choices.

  • For optimal performance, the EBR-14 necessitates appropriate attachments. Locate the suitable ones to enhance its capabilities.

B-Tier:Tempus Torrent (SR 25) / Marksman Rifle

The Tempus Torrent can be seen as a subpar rendition of the classic FAL. It shares similarities in terms of handling and effectiveness, but unfortunately falls short due to an intense recoil pattern and a slower rate of fire. Nevertheless, it can still be considered a decent weapon, fitting into the B-Tier category.

  • This is our present .

B-Tier: BAS-P (MPX) / SMG

The BAS-P, an SMG belonging to the same family as the M13B, was a weapon introduced in Season 1. It is recommended to level up this weapon for its attachments. However, in terms of performance, it is considered average in all categories. While it can be classified as B-Tier due to its viability, it lacks specialization in any specific aspect.

  • Here’s a complete .

B-Tier: KV Broadside (Saiga-12)

The KV Broadside is undoubtedly the top-notch shotgun, boasting an impressive magazine capacity of 24 shells, a fantastic rate-of-fire, and an unexpectedly remarkable range. In summary, this shotgun possesses all the essential qualities necessary for excellence. Nevertheless, when compared to SMGs, the KV Broadside remains a situational weapon, preventing us from ranking it higher than B-Tier.

  • Here’s a complete .

B-Tier: LA-B 330 (M85?) / Sniper Rifle

The sniper rifle’s slow speed and inadequate rate of fire make it an inferior choice compared to other options. However, its commendable damage places it in the B-Tier category for us.

  • Here’s our !

B-Tier: SP-X 80 (M2010 ESR) / Sniper Rifle

The story is identical to the LA-B 330. However, if you decide to employ a sniper and reveal your location through a noticeable optical glimmer, it would be more advantageous to choose a sniper rifle that has a higher probability of achieving a successful kill. Nevertheless, the SP-X possesses a relatively swift performance for a heavy sniper rifle.

C-Tier Guns In Warzone 2 | Better Than A Pistol

Although these weapons are noticeably inadequate, they are unlikely to match up against most other weapons in the game. However, they are not the absolute worst weapons and may offer one or two advantages in certain situations.

C-Tier: M16 / Assault Rifle

In the initial Warzone 2 patch, the M16 received a significant improvement, yet it remains at a notable disadvantage due to its burst-fire nature. Despite having exceptional gun handling abilities, this weapon is unable to outperform fully automatic assault rifles. However, due to the recent enhancements and in comparison to all other available weapons, it still falls within the C-Tier category.

  • Here’s the .

C-Tier: Lachmann-762 (G3) / Battle Rifle

The 762 in MW2’s multiplayer is widely disliked by players. However, its advantage lies in its connection to the Lachmann platform, enabling it to carry 50-round magazines. As a result, the Lachmann 762 boasts one of the highest damage-per-mag ratios in the game, allowing us to eliminate entire squads with just one magazine. Nonetheless, mastering the recoil and avoiding being outmatched by faster weapons is crucial for this strategy to be effective.

  • Click on this link to access the meta.

C-Tier: FTAC-Recon (AR15 in 6.5 Creedmoor) / Battle Rifle

Although the FTAC falls short in terms of performance, utilizing its full-auto mode as a peculiar mid-range AR allows for lightning-fast destruction of triple plate armor. However, due to its limited magazine capacity and excessive recoil, it can only be classified as a C-Tier firearm.

  • The . is available for you to locate.

C-Tier: SO-14 (M14) / Battle Rifle

Why have we priced this item so low despite its ability to accommodate 50-round magazines and be set to full-auto? Well, the reason lies in its intense recoil. This firearm possesses a tremendous kick, resembling that of a mule, making it necessary to possess exceptional gun handling skills in order to use it effectively.

  • Here’s our favorite .

C-Tier: MX9 (AUG Para) / SMG

The MX9 possesses great mobility and boasts an impressive time-to-kill (TTK). However, its magazine capacity proves to be a critical drawback. Even with the extended magazine option, it can only hold 32 rounds, while the base magazine holds a mere 25 rounds. Unfortunately, this insufficient ammunition capacity falls short for Warzone.

  • The . can be found.

C-Tier: SPR-208 (M24 SWS) / Marksman Rifle

Recall our previous discussion about the futility of using a weak sniper rifle that leaves you exposed. Well, that same logic applies here, but the situation is even more dire. The SPR-208 is incapable of taking down enemies with a single shot, even at close proximity. Consequently, attempting to engage with it will result in your demise before achieving a successful takedown.

C-Tier: SA-B 50 (FN-Ballista) / Marksman Rifle

All the points we discussed earlier regarding the SPR-208 are applicable here as well. However, this weapon is even more disadvantageous as it takes longer to aim-down-sight. If all bolt-action rifles were capable of one-shotting opponents with a headshot, this weapon could potentially become highly effective and rank in the A-Tier. But presently, it is not recommended to use due to its current limitations.

C-Tier: TAQ-M (SCAR-H PR) / Marksman Rifle

Although the TAQ-M shows potential as a battle rifle, its usage of sniper ammunition makes it less effective as a marksman rifle. The combination of its low power and fast rate of fire results in inefficient utilization of the sniper ammo. Al Mazrah finds this inefficiency unacceptable.

  • The present meta is as follows.

C-Tier: Carrack .300 (WA 2000) / Sniper Rifle

This sniper rifle boasts a rapid rate of fire, but unfortunately, it inflicts minimal damage. It takes three shots to the upper chest to take down a target beyond 50 meters. Surprisingly, this weapon isn’t favored by many, even in Ranked matches where one-shot builds are prohibited. Instead, most players opt for the Signal 50 sniper rifle.

Unlike other weapons in Warzone 2, the FSS Hurricane is based on more of a proto-type than a widely produced weapon. | © Activision

D-Tier Guns In Warzone 2 | Leave It On The Ground

Unless you have just landed and desperately need to replace your pistol, these weapons are always unworthy of use.

D-Tier: Expedite 12 (Benelli M4) / Shotgun

In both Warzone and Warzone 2, shotguns are either ineffective or underwhelming. The Expedite stands out slightly among other shotguns due to its decent magazine capacity and relatively fast rate of fire. However, it fails to excel in most gunfights, as there are limited scenarios where it can prove victorious.

  • Here’s the .

D-Tier: Bryson 890 (Mossburg 590M) / Shotgun

Although this shotgun is inferior to the Expedite in every aspect, its advantage lies in being magazine fed. This feature allows for quicker reloading, making it marginally less inadequate.

  • We strongly recommend this.

D-Tier: LM-S (PSG1) / Marksman Rifle

To take down an opponent, you will need three, and sometimes even four shots. However, due to the weapon’s slow and unwieldy nature, the tradeoff is never justified considering the inadequate damage it inflicts.

  • A . can be found.

D-Tier: Lockwood 300 (Beretta 686) / Shotgun

You only have two rounds at your disposal, which is insufficient for Warzone. This limited ammunition leaves you highly exposed, even if you manage to take down an opponent.

  • Here’s the

D-Tier: Bryson 800 (Mossburg 500) / Shotgun

The Bryson 890 is simply superior to this version due to its slower reload speed, making it less effective. I cannot fathom any valid reason for choosing this alternative, and it is highly unlikely that it will ever gain popularity, even with significant enhancements.

  • Also, here are the meta attachments.

D-Tier: Lockwood MK2 (Marlin 30-30) / Marksman Rifle

Once again, we want to emphasize that the Lockwood MK2 is an impressive weapon. However, it is not a practical choice. While its coolness factor may make it more appealing than other D-Tier weapons, its sluggishness and relatively weak damage make it an impractical option when the situation demands swift and effective performance.

Ladies and gentlemen, here it is, our comprehensive tier-ranking of every firearm in Warzone 2.0. We kindly request your input in the comments section regarding any underappreciated weapons that you believe the community may have overlooked. Simply list the weapon and its required attachments below, and we’ll conduct thorough testing on the suggested loadout.

Are you in agreement with the majority of the ratings? Alternatively, do you believe we were excessively critical? Also, if you still require assistance in leveling up the S-Tier weapons, we have a guide available (spoiler alert: it necessitates purchasing a copy of MW2).

If you already enjoy Warzone, purchasing MW2 could prove to be a worthwhile investment.
