Best Modern Warfare 2 Loadouts For Ranked

In order to participate in Ranked Play in Modern Warfare 2, players are obligated to adhere to competitive settings. This means that our options for loadouts, in terms of weapons and equipment, are considerably restricted. Below, we have compiled the top weapon configurations for competitive play, along with our recommended loadouts for the game modes: Hardpoint, Search, and Control.

In the game, players utilize the identical competitive settings employed by professional gamers. In competitive Call of Duty, the majority of weapons, grenades, and perks, except for ARs and SMGs, are prohibited. The objective is to eliminate any elements that may cause unbalanced gameplay and provide unfair advantages, as there are numerous elements in CoD that can result in easy kills.

Below, you will find the optimal attachment setups that are both competitive and compliant with the current meta weapons. Additionally, we have included our recommendations for grenades and perks tailored specifically for each competitive mode: Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Control.

  • If your goal is to quickly advance in the ranks, consider checking out the Xbox Elite Series 2 Controller. Additionally, if you haven’t purchased the game yet, you can find Modern Warfare 2 on Amazon.

How To Create Custom Loadouts For Ranked Play

Upon entering a Ranked Play game, your regular classes will not be accessible; instead, you will encounter your dedicated competitive custom loadout slots. These slots are entirely distinct from your typical custom classes.

Simply navigate to the “Weapons” tab and build your Ranked Loadouts. Only eligible weapons and equipment will be shown, ensuring your loadouts are always in accordance with the rules.

As a starting point, we recommend allocating your ten slots to the following classes:

  • Hardpoint AR
  • Hardpoint SMG
  • SnD AR
  • SnD SMG
  • Control AR
  • Control SMG

If you only prefer playing with SMGs or ARs, and you have no intention of picking the other weapon, then there is no need for you to create classes for the alternate weapon. We will discuss the perks and equipment choices for each of these classes later, but the attachment setup for the AR and SMG will remain the same in both modes.

The Best Ranked / Competitive AR Setup: TAQ-56

Unlike the pros, we aren’t forced to use the Tundra barrel. | © Activision

Muzzle Sakin Tread-40
Ammunition High Velocity
Stock TV Cardinal Stock
Rear Grip FSS Combat Grip
Underbarrel Edge-47 Grip

We assure you that the Tundra barrel is unnecessary! It is not worth the investment for the average multiplayer engagement distances. Professional players use it due to an unofficial agreement called GA (Gentlemen’s Agreement) to maintain balance between assault rifles and SMGs. This prevents assault rifles from being too overpowering in terms of speed.

The Best Ranked / Competitive SMG Setup: Vaznev-9K

Muzzle Bruen Pendulum
Stock Otrezat Stock
Rear Grip True-Tac Grip
Underbarrel FSS Sharkfin-90

Many people dislike the default Kastov iron sights. If you’re one of them, there’s no need to fret over adding a 1x sight like the Slimline pro to your weapon. The slightly slower handling speeds are hardly noticeable. The aforementioned build has been widely adopted by professionals since its launch, and it performs exceptionally well.

The Best Ranked / Competitive Sidearm Setup: X12

Muzzle XRK Ventor
Barrel XRk Sidewinder
Rear Grip Cronen Lima-6
Trigger Action XRK Lighting Fire

The mentioned pistol only requires the four attachments listed above, as it is utilized in limited scenarios. Having a larger magazine is not truly essential.

Perks & Grenades For Each Mode (Attack & Defense)

Once you have constructed your AR, SMG, and sidearm, you can prepare every class for each mode. It is advisable to create distinct classes for both attack and defense in Control and Search modes. Below are our loadout recommendations for each mode.

Mode
Secondary Lethal Tactical Base Perks Bonus Perks Field Upgrade
Hardpoint AR Knife (consider the pistol for Hydro, it can be used underwater) Semtex Stuns Battle Hardened, Bomb Squad Focus Trophy System
Hardpoint SMG Knife (consider the pistol for Hydro, it can be used underwater) Semtex Stuns Battle Hardened, Bomb Squad Focus Dead Silence
Search and Destroy AR Pistol Frag Grenade Stuns Double Time, Bomb Squad Focus Dead Silence
Search and Destroy SMG Knife (consider the pistol for Hydro, it can be used underwater) Frag Grenade Stuns Double Time, Bomb Squad Focus Dead Silence
Control AR Knife Semtex Stuns Battle Hardened, Bomb Squad Focus Trophy System
Control SMG Knife Semtex Stuns Battle Hardened, Bomb Squad Focus Dead Silence

In competitive play, Ultimate perks are not available as they are prohibited. Additionally, when it comes to grenades, we are limited to either Frag Grenades or Semtex, and the tactical slot only allows Stun Grenades.

So, that concludes our present suggestion for loadouts in Ranked Play. If you’ve been eagerly anticipating competitive gaming with the latest CoD, you can purchase MW2 here.
