Steven Knight Opens Up About His Plans For Peaky Blinders

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Steven Knight, the creator and writer of the show, revealed his future plans for the Peaky Blinders universe. He described the upcoming sixth season as “the end of the beginning,” which is definitely music to our ears!

In February 2022, he made an announcement stating that the TV show would conclude, with plans for a subsequent movie. He mentioned that filming for the movie would commence “in 18 months time, possibly a little later.” It appears that the shooting schedule has been slightly delayed, and it is now expected to begin in October 2023.

Steven Knight went further:

Following that, depending on how the film’s structure aligns, we will initiate the production of spin-offs that will exist within the same universe.

Despite his silence regarding the movie’s storyline and potential spin-offs, it appears to be a well-thought-out strategy. If the movie proves successful, there are plans to develop spin-offs. Instead of Knight overseeing all these new ventures, he intends to “pass on the baton,” as he recently revealed in an interview with Variety.
