The Best Marksman Rifles In Modern Warfare 2 | All MMRs Ranked

The world has witnessed the grand unveiling of the game, which has sparked a frenzy among players to swiftly unlock every weapon available. As they embark on this quest, many have approached us seeking advice on the finest weapons within the game. While we do offer a general guide, this article will delve into the realm of Marksman Rifles, providing an extensive ranking from least to most impressive.

The Marksman Rifles have made a comeback in MW2 as a distinct weapon category. These rifles, often referred to as “light snipers”, have the ability to eliminate an opponent with a single shot to the neck or head. Their range is suitable for all maps, providing ample coverage. Moreover, they offer a slight advantage in terms of mobility compared to the heavier snipers. Without further ado, let’s delve into the top Marksman Rifles in MW2.

Please note that the following rankings represent the top MMRs for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. You can access them here.

7. Lockwood MK2

The MK2 has returned! However, it still falls short. The issue lies in the fact that you must reload a round after every shot, resulting in an ineffective time-to-kill (assuming all shots hit the target’s center of mass). This disadvantage makes it difficult to compete with the majority of other weapons.

However, it remains undeniably impressive. We are confident that numerous Redditors will unlock it and create compilation videos showcasing their formidable “Cowboy Class”.

6. LM-S

This weapon can be categorized as a semi-automatic sniper rifle, but its drawback lies in the recoil, which hinders quick follow-up shots similar to the older Dragunov model. It could potentially be used for close-range scenarios, though it should be noted that overall, it does not possess significant strength as a weapon.

Although we appreciate the inclusion of the PSG1 in the game, we hope that Call of Duty will eventually go back to using the real names for these weapons.

5. EBR-14

This firearm leans more towards a semi-automatic AR than a sniper rifle, lacking the necessary speed for optimal effectiveness in that particular role. Its resemblance to the EBR from MW2019 further highlights this similarity.

Despite its cool appearance, it is highly likely that it will offer some amazing skins.

4. TAQ-M

The TAQ-M is more akin to a semi-automatic AR rifle than a sniper, meaning it will always necessitate subsequent shots. However, it surpasses the EBR-14 in terms of speed and effectiveness. An added advantage is that it can be equipped with all the attachments available for the SCAR platform.

Unfortunately, it falls short compared to the top two weapons on this list, as they are almost overpowered due to their simplicity and ability to eliminate enemies with a single shot.

3. Tempus Torrent

In Season 2 Reloaded, the Tempus Torrent emerged as a notable addition, particularly in multiplayer. Bearing resemblance to the MW2019’s FAL, albeit at a slower pace and with more pronounced recoil, it still proves to be quite effective.

Having access to a variety of incredible attachments is an added advantage of this weapon.

2. SA-B 50

This weapon resembles the classic Kar98k, known for its quick aim-down-sight capabilities and ability to eliminate opponents with a single shot to the chest. Such weapons tend to be overpowered in CoD multiplayer due to their challenging nature to counter. Moreover, snipers in this game benefit from significant aim assist and minimal flinching, exacerbating the issue further.

The reason it’s not ranked number 1 is due to its higher frequency of hitmarkers compared to the 208.

1. SP-R 208

Similar to the SA-B 50, the Kar98k can be considered as its counterpart, excelling as a high-speed sniper rifle capable of delivering a single shot to the upper chest. While it made an appearance in Modern Warfare 2019, its potency might have been slightly diminished compared to its original form.

One aspect that sets this apart from the SA-B is its ability to consistently deliver one-shot kills and its ease of use with just the ironsights.
