Warzone 2, a popular game in the Call of Duty series, boasts a thriving community on consoles, particularly on PlayStation. Consoles, typically connected to the television in the living room, provide an ideal setup for gaming. Considering Warzone 2’s emphasis on squad-based team play, it seems like a perfect fit for cooperative gameplay. However, the question arises: does Warzone 2 offer a split-screen mode like its predecessors, allowing players to enjoy the game with a friend?

How To Play Split-Screen In Warzone 2?

Regrettably, Warzone 2, similar to its predecessor Warzone 1, does not offer split-screen play despite its emphasis on squad-based multiplayer. The reason behind this omission is unclear, but it could be attributed to the game’s expansive nature and the declining significance of split-screen in contemporary gaming. In today’s era, online multiplayer is readily available to most players, diminishing the necessity of local split-screen modes.

However, it would have been preferable if we had the opportunity to play Warzone 2 in split-screen. Considering that the Call of Duty multiplayer has included a split-screen mode since Call of Duty 2 and Modern Warfare 2, it’s a feature that players have come to expect. Additionally, most zombies modes in Call of Duty games have historically offered split-screen functionality, although that seems to have changed with Vanguard, which is somewhat puzzling.

Will Warzone 2 Get Split-Screen In The Future?

When considering the success of other popular Battle Royale games, it’s possible to feel optimistic. Fortnite, for instance, initially lacked split-screen support but later incorporated it due to community demand. Therefore, could there be a possibility of split-screen being included in Warzone 2?

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely. Raven Software and Infinity Ward are already busy with providing new content and balance patches for Warzone 2. Additionally, split-screen mode was not available throughout the entirety of Warzone 1, and there has been no mention of it since the launch of Warzone 2. It appears that split-screen is not a priority for the developers. However, if there is enough demand from players and they voice their opinions, the developers may reconsider, as they have reintroduced loadout drops based on player feedback in the past.

How To Play Warzone 2 In Couch Co-Op

While it may seem unconventional, the only way to enjoy couch co-op in Warzone 2 is by having two separate gaming setups with consoles and screens. If you want to play Warzone 2 with a friend sitting next to you, they will need to bring their own console, and you will need an extra TV or monitor to connect it. Afterward, your friend will have to connect to your internet so that both of you can participate in online Warzone 2 matches together from the comfort of the couch. It is undoubtedly a complex workaround, but unfortunately, it is the only viable option currently.

The current information regarding split-screen functionality in Warzone 2 is limited. Nevertheless, if Raven Software decides to introduce split-screen gaming in Warzone 2 at a later time, we will promptly update this article.

Is Warzone coming to Switch in the near future?
