Warzone 2.0’s DMZ: Everything You Need To Know | Release Date, Missions & More

A new mode called the DMZ will be introduced in Warzone 2.0, resembling Tarkov. Here’s what we currently know about it.The upcoming game mode, known as the DMZ, is set to be an adaptation of Escape From Tarkov in the world of Call of Duty. Ever since we caught wind of this mode, our anticipation has been building, as it promises to provide an ideal co-operative adventure in addition to Warzone. With the need for more content, the DMZ will be a crucial addition. Now, let’s delve into the specifics.

When Will The DMZ Mode Be Released?

The release of DMZ is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 10AM PT (1PM ET / 6PM GMT / 7PM CET), coinciding with the launch of Warzone 2. Players will be able to access DMZ through the Warzone launcher, and we anticipate cross-progression compatibility with the BR mode.

Is DMZ Going To Be Free?

Certainly, we believe it will be more closely associated with Warzone rather than Modern Warfare 2. Rest assured, we will provide updates as soon as possible.

How Will Warzone 2’s DMZ Mode Work?

In Modern Warfare 2’s DMZ mode, teams of three players will descend onto a expansive map and collaborate with other players to accomplish designated objectives. These tasks encompass a range of activities such as rescuing hostages, battling formidable bosses, seizing control of strategic strongholds, and acquiring vital intelligence fragments. Once these objectives have been fulfilled, the players will proceed towards an exfiltration point.

The purpose of this mode is to provide the thrill of a Battle Royale, complete with expansive maps and survival aspects, for those who enjoy cooperative, player versus environment gameplay. A similar concept has been successfully implemented in the game Escape from Tarkov, and even Battlefield 2042 attempted it with their Hazard Zone mode (although with differing results).

Alright, that was a brief summary. Now, let’s delve into the fundamental workings of the DMZ that you must comprehend.

Stash / Inventory

Within the DMZ, each player possesses their own personal collection of items. Throughout the match, you have the opportunity to acquire valuable items such as an AK or a high-quality sniper rifle. Should you successfully leave the DMZ without perishing, you will retain these items and be able to utilize them right from the start in subsequent matches. However, if you happen to meet your demise during a match, the item in question will be permanently lost. All your earned possessions are securely stored in your stash.

When you die in the game, you usually lose all your items, but there is one exception called an “insured” item. This means that even if you lose the item, it will be returned to you after a certain period of time. In the DMZ, every player is given a free insured primary weapon slot. However, if you want more insured weapon slots, you will need to use the DMZ’s currency called “DMZ Cash”. You can earn DMZ Cash by completing missions or finding valuable items like gold blocks, which have no military use and can be sold for money.

Infil: Choosing Loadouts & Missions

At the start of each game of DMZ you can pick items from your stash to bring, and you can select missions to complete. If you extracted loads of useful items to your stash in a previous game then you could theoretically start with a backpack full of everything you need and great weapons, and this is how you could go for high-value targets at the very start of a DMZ match.

Your chosen missions will shape your actions in DMZ for most of the game. These missions are provided by three factions: the Legion, White Lotus, and Black Mous. By successfully completing missions, you will progress through the Mission Tiers of each faction. The higher the Mission Tier of a faction, the more challenging and rewarding missions you can undertake. Opting for tougher missions will yield better rewards, such as exclusive blueprints.

Completing Missions

In the exclusion zone, you have the freedom to approach the match however you wish. You are even free to simply roam the map without completing any challenges, and you will still be able to keep all the loot you discover as long as you leave safely. This mode is designed for individuals who enjoy more laid-back and unrestricted gameplay.

In the DMZ, circle collapses are non-existent, but sporadic sandstorms and localized radiation surges are known to happen. These peculiar events are connected to an undisclosed secret, which will be unveiled in future seasons. However, at present, it is crucial to acknowledge that the DMZ offers players unrestricted freedom to explore and familiarize themselves with the exciting features of the new Warzone map.

Exfil: Taking Home The Loot

In order to extract successfully, it is essential for all individuals to gather in a designated location. This process enables players to transfer all items from their backpack to their personal stash at their residence. The concept is straightforward and aligns closely with our expectations for Tarkov. However, it is unfortunate that the developers overlooked the inclusion of a dedicated shop in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), where players could purchase items using DMZ currency.

Will DMZ Be Played On The Warzone Maps?

It is highly likely that the DMZ mode will be played on the existing Warzone map. Modes such as the DMZ typically require large maps like BR-sized ones. It wouldn’t be practical for the developers to create new maps without knowing the level of success this mode will achieve. Therefore, it makes perfect sense for them to reuse the Warzone map.

Based on what you’ve heard so far, what are your thoughts on this new mode? Are you excited about it? We’re cautiously optimistic, hoping that Infinity Ward can further enhance it.
