Outlander, based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series, has received immense acclaim, drawing inspiration from her work. While the books already had a dedicated fanbase, the TV adaptation introduced the story to a whole new audience, captivating them with the fascinating intrigues of medieval Scotland.

The story revolves around Claire Randall, a nurse during WWII, who is inexplicably transported back in time and discovers herself in the year 1743 among rebellious Highlanders. As their lives are filled with danger, her nursing abilities prove to be immensely valuable, not to mention the attractive gentleman who takes an interest in her.

Jamie Fraser, a remarkably attractive Highlander, serves as the captivating love interest. Instantly, the urgency to reunite with her 20th-century husband diminishes. Anticipating the unfolding drama in season 8 of Outlander is truly exciting!

Outlander Season 8: Release Date

Whoa, slow down! Season 7 isn’t even fully out yet and you’re already eager for season 8?

First, let’s start with the positive news: Season 8 has been officially confirmed and will undoubtedly bring the series to a thrilling conclusion in an epic finale.

We are thrilled to announce that #Outlander has been renewed for its eighth and final season, marking an extraordinary journey accompanied by an exceptional fanbase. pic.twitter.com/mNJ3AZXW2s

On January 19, 2023, @Outlander_STARZ tweeted:

Unfortunately, there is currently no set release date for season 8.

In addition to the positive updates, it is worth mentioning that we can enjoy another eight episodes of season 7 before contemplating the arrival of season 8 and the conclusion of the series. The second part of season 7 is scheduled for release in 2024, although an exact date has yet to be announced.

There’s no need to worry about any strikes interrupting our favorite Scottish crew as filming has concluded in February.

Unfortunately, the assurance that season 7 will not be affected by the strike does not guarantee the same for season 8. Caitriona Balfe, known for her portrayal of Claire in the show, has already expressed concerns about the impending writers’ strike and its potential impact on the production of Outlander’s eighth season.

Although it’s difficult for me to admit as someone who is extremely impatient, it is possible that season 8 may not be released until 2026 or even later. To satisfy my strong desire for a Scottish fix, please give me some Haggis or something similar!

  • While Outlander with its latest four books is definitely enjoyable for many, haggis might not appeal to everyone.

Outlander Will Continue With A Spin-Off Series

It won’t be easy to leave Claire and Jamie behind after years of being their devoted fans, but there’s a silver lining that can help ease the pain. Starz has officially given the green light to a spin-off series titled “Blood of my Blood,” which will explore the romantic journey of Jamie’s parents.

I will forever be grateful to Blood of my Blood for delving into the romance between Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, as it brought us the beloved character of Jamie. Additionally, there is the exciting prospect of witnessing a glimpse into Jamie’s childhood. While Season 1 provided a brief summary of the story, the anticipation of witnessing it unfold in all its splendor is truly something to be enthusiastic about.

Diana Gabaldon, the author, disclosed her involvement in a spin-off project focused on Brian and Ellen. She shared that she is actively collaborating with the showrunners to contribute ideas for the book.

  • Regarding spin-offs, it is worth mentioning that author Gabaldon has indeed created a book series centered around Lord John.

At the moment, all we can do is patiently wait out the Droughtlander-phase. Rest assured, we will keep you updated!
