Hogwarts Legacy: Room of Requirement Explained

If you’re already familiar with the books and have seen numerous gameplay previews of Hogwarts Legacy, feel free to skip this section. However, if you’re new to this and want a quick introduction, here’s a brief overview of what this room entails.

The Room of Requirement, as depicted in the books, is a concealed chamber that materializes when someone requires it. This extraordinary space morphs into any desired configuration and serves a multitude of purposes. One might employ it as a covert sanctuary for honing magical skills, or simply as a discreet hiding spot for possessions.

However, in the game, the Room of Requirement is not generated randomly. Once you unlock it, it remains accessible to you at all times. This exclusive area is shared only between yourself and a House Elf named Deek, and it holds an extensive array of items that cater to your every need.

The room offers endless possibilities for your growth, and serves as a sanctuary for the pets you’ve gathered. You have complete control over customizing the room to your preferences, with an extensive selection of cosmetic choices available.

How To Unlock The Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy

Professor Weasley will introduce you to the Room of Requirement after you successfully complete the primary story mission called Tomes and Tribulations. A letter from Professor Weasley will be sent to you, instructing you to locate her. This event will occur quite early in the game if your primary focus is on completing main quests, prior to the transition into the Fall season.

After unlocking it, the Room of Requirement will be available for Fast Travel at all times. To reach it, navigate through Hogwarts by going to the Secret Room and then proceed to the Room of Requirements. However, if you prefer to travel on foot, locate the entrance halfway up the Astronomy Tower. Remember to use the spell Revelio when you reach the door, as there is a Field Guide Page to be collected from the tapestry across from it.

There are two distinct methods to enhance the Room of Requirement. Firstly, it can undergo a physical expansion to accommodate additional rooms. Secondly, it can be personalized by altering its designs and incorporating new furniture pieces.

Getting New Rooms

Progressing through the main story missions is the key to unlocking new Rooms and areas within the Room of Requirement. It is not possible to cheat or gain early access to these rooms. The only way to gain access is by playing through the main quests. As you make progress, Professor Weasley will send you letters instructing you to return to the Room and have a conversation with Deek, the House Elf in charge of managing the room.

Unlocking New Conjuration Recipes

New items such as potting stations and potion cauldrons can be added to the room through two methods: discovering conjuration recipes in chests scattered across the world or purchasing them directly from Tomes & Scrolls in Hogsmeade. While Tomes & Scrolls offers a wide range of functional equipment, the majority of cosmetic items are found in chests.

At any given time, you have the freedom to alter the color and style of items, walls, and floors in the room. This comes at no cost, and you begin with access to an extensive range of colors and styles.

The Best Things To Build In The Room of Requirement

When you unlock the Room of Requirement, you have the freedom to design it according to your personal preferences. However, we have a few recommendations on how to initially set up the room. Here is our suggested build order to get you started:

  1. To obtain a significant amount of Moonstone early, remove all default cosmetic items in the room such as paintings and carpets.
  2. Purchase a Moonstone Refinery recipe from Tomes & Scroll and promptly construct three of them. This will enable you to commence resource generation, which will subsequently facilitate the continuous expansion of the room at no additional cost.
  3. Construct two potting stations and initiate the planting process for Dittany and Mellowsweet herbs. Dittany will serve the purpose of being utilized in the creation of Wiggenweld Potions, while Mellowsweet is essential for activating the Merlin Trials.
  4. Make sure to construct at least one potion brewing station, as it will enable you to continuously create Wiggenweld Potions.
  5. Once you unlock the Vivarium, make sure to construct the Beast Feeder. Additionally, remember to build it in every subsequent Vivarium you unlock.

The mentioned builds are excellent for beginners, but as you accumulate ample gold and progress further in the game, we highly suggest trying out the Hopping Cauldron.

What plans do you have for constructing your Room of Requirement? Additionally, what specific items or elements do you intend to fill it with?
