All Marvel Movies Out in 2023: Release Dates & Details For Phase 5

The official 2023 lineup of Marvel movies has been announced, and the titles for Phase 5 of the MCU appear to be much more promising than the underwhelming Marvel films of the previous year. This year, audiences can anticipate the release of five Marvel films in theaters, with the first one already having premiered. With that debut setting the bar, it is safe to say that the upcoming films have the potential to exceed expectations.

Since Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, initiated Phase 1 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008, we have experienced an infinite number of Marvel movies, varying in quality. From the mediocre The Incredible Hulk and the initial two Thor films to the exceptional Iron Man and Captain America: Winter Soldier, the flow of superhero content, in the form of both movies and TV shows, has been ceaseless.

Maintaining the quality amidst the constant influx of movies and series is nearly impossible. She-Hulk serves as a prime example of this decline.

To be honest, many of these projects seem entirely pointless. Who on earth requires such an excessive number of Ant-Man movies? Is that truly a desire for people? Nonetheless, we can’t really fault them. By the way, you’re definitely going to watch the new Spider-Man movie, right?

Marvel Movies 2023: Release Dates, Plot & More

In 2023, Marvel has exciting plans for five upcoming movies, and to everyone’s surprise, one of them will be an Ant-Man film.

Marvel Movie Release Date
Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania February 15, 2023
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 May 5, 2023
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse June 2, 2023
Kraven The Hunter August 30, 2023
The Marvels November 10, 2023

What can we anticipate from Marvel in 2023? It appears to be filled with several sequels. There’s yet another unnecessary one. The Guardians of the Galaxy are making a return, which is acceptable. Another Spider-Verse movie, now that’s worth looking forward to. As for The Marvels, it doesn’t excite me. Oh, and we’ll kick things off with a standalone film featuring Kraven the Hunter! Now, that’s something I can definitely get excited about.

Now, it’s time to examine each of those releases more closely.

Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania (February 17, 2023)

Although Ant-Man isn’t my top pick among superheroes, there’s no denying his significant contribution to the MCU. Paul Rudd does an excellent job portraying Scott Lang, but personally, I don’t find myself drawn to the plot, villains, or superpowers that Ant-Man offers.

Despite completing filming in 2021, the film was only recently released on February 15, 2023, as a result of the pandemic. It is considered one of the most positive outcomes to emerge from this global crisis.

The film was disappointingly average, failing to even provide viewers the satisfaction of laughing at its sheer badness.

Jonathan Majors’ portrayal of Kang the Conqueror in this movie was undeniably the standout. The incorporation of his comic book accurate armor, with its striking metallic purple and green hues, was truly impressive and enhanced the overall aesthetic.

Despite Jonathan Major’s exceptional performance, the movie fell short with its abundance of poor jokes, lackluster storyline, and subpar CGI.

However, it is still an improvement compared to the previous Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5, 2023)

Guardians of the Galaxy has consistently provided an enjoyable experience through its lighthearted charm and thrilling cosmic escapades. However, this time around, the movie takes a poignant turn as Rocket’s past is revealed, leaving viewers deeply moved.

In relation to the storyline, as previously stated, it centers around the backstory of Rocket Raccoon and Peter Quill’s struggle with an unfamiliar version of Gamora who lacks any recollection of him. Consequently, this time it is not solely centered on comedic elements.

Chukwudi Iwuji excellently portrays the central villain, infusing the High Evolutionary with a much-needed sinister aura that has been noticeably absent in recent Marvel productions.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (June 2, 2023)

Since I watched the first Spider-Verse film in 2018, I’ve eagerly anticipated its sequel. Now, we join Miles as he embarks on a journey through different dimensions alongside Gwen Stacy and the returning Spider-Man 2099.

Initially scheduled for 2022, the release date of the film was postponed to 2023. This delay turned out to be advantageous, allowing the producers ample time to refine the movie. Their efforts were successful, resulting in a polished final product.

If you haven’t watched it yet, you should definitely check out the movie as it truly lives up to the hype and serves as a worthy sequel to the original.

Although there were initial audio problems during the movie’s theater release, those issues should have been resolved by now. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, consider yourself fortunate.

Introducing The Spot, Miles Morales’s toughest adversary to date. Jason Schwartzman lends his voice to this character, and you can witness his thrilling performance in Spider-Man: Across the #SpiderVerse, coming exclusively to theaters on June 2, 2023. Don’t miss it! pic.twitter.com/1aAmMjMcpX

On June 13, 2022, Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse was announced on Twitter by the official Spider-Verse account (@SpiderVerse).

Kraven The Hunter (August 30, 2023)

Continuing the trend set by Venom and Morbius, we are presented with another origin story for a well-known Spider-Man antagonist. Regrettably, this film shares numerous resemblances with Morbius and lacks any distinctiveness.

If you’re not aware, Kraven is a Hunter who sees Spidey as his target. Therefore, it’s likely that we’ll see him in an upcoming Spider-Man film. The movie will bring back Aaron Taylor-Johnson to the MCU, although I personally would have preferred Jason Momoa for the role. Taylor-Johnson previously portrayed Quicksilver in Age of Ultron, but his character was swiftly killed off. I really hope they find a way to address this in the film.

In the trailer, the movie was presented in its full R-rated splendor, featuring Kraven effortlessly overpowering his adversaries. I must admit, the R-rating added an exciting twist and presented a unique opportunity for innovation, but unfortunately, they didn’t fully seize that potential.

Kraven’s motivation lacks the necessary edge and deviates significantly from the original character portrayed in the comics. Once again, they miss the mark in transforming one of their most iconic adversaries into a captivating villain, instead presenting him as a generic anti-hero, similar to what they did with Venom.

The Marvels (November 10, 2023)

I have zero enthusiasm for this upcoming movie. It serves as a continuation of both the Captain Marvel film and the Ms Marvel Disney+ series, while also including the character from WandaVision who gained superpowers. Overall, these elements fail to generate any sense of excitement or promise for me.

movie, on the other hand, was fantastic. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to watch the Spiderverse movie now!

The Disney+ show was somewhat underwhelming, and Monica Rambeau’s character was decent, but I don’t feel particularly strongly about her.

Despite initial reservations, the movie has potential to exceed expectations. By having no preconceived notions, there is a chance that the movie might not be as bad as anticipated.

Considering the negative reception of the trailer, I wouldn’t wager on its success.

We have yet to see a substantial amount, and everything depends on the show’s writing and the portrayal of the potential villain, portrayed by Zawe Ashton.

Without a doubt, this movie will empower women. However, its quality and impact are subjective, relying on both the writing and your personal perspective.
