What is the Best CoD Zombies? All Zombies Modes Ranked…

10. Vanguard

While Treyarch, the developers who understand the essence of Zombies mode, also worked on Vanguard, it is regrettable that this game mode is subpar. Despite receiving minimal updates, it has failed to address its issues throughout different seasons. Players who enjoy the Zombies mode in Call of Duty desire turn-based maps with intriguing Easter Eggs, purchasable weapons from walls, and sequential unlocking of areas. Unfortunately, Vanguard fails to provide these elements and instead offers hub maps with teleporting portals leading to insignificant challenges. It is genuinely disappointing.

9. Black Ops IV

Black Ops IV’s Zombies Mode was undeniably controversial. While some individuals enjoyed the two storylines, we found them to be quite disappointing. Frankly, it felt like a chaotic mishmash. The developers did make an effort to refine certain aspects and the overall presentation seemed polished, but it lacked any sort of charisma. We aren’t particularly fond of a rigid experience, nor do we appreciate the absence of personality. The only positive aspect we can mention about BOIV’s Zombies is that at least it’s not Call of Duty: Vanguard. (Copyright Activision)

8. Infinite Warfare

Before we criticize Infinity Ward, it’s important to acknowledge their efforts in creating their first Zombies mode. The mode, known as ‘Zombies in Spaceland’, took place in a sci-fi amusement park and included typical elements. While it provided entertainment, like most Zombies modes (except Vanguard’s), it fell short in terms of quality.

7. World War 2

Sledgehammer Games’ second try at a Zombies mode was undeniably dull. Although we had our gripes with Advanced Warfare (keep reading!), it was at least innovative. As expected, World War 2’s Zombies mode was well-crafted, engaging, and enjoyable. However, like its predecessor Call of Duty: World War 2, it lacked any fresh elements. 6. Advanced Warfare

We may receive criticism for ranking this game higher than World War 2, but let’s face it, both games have their flaws. The reason we give it a higher placement is because it attempted to bring something fresh. Advanced Warfare introduced a significant amount of vertical gameplay to the Call of Duty series, which undoubtedly enhanced the overall experience. However, the game falls short due to its poor map design.

5. Black Ops III

From this point onward, everything on the list is deemed satisfactory. Although Black Ops III may not have excelled in any particular aspect, its Zombies mode, following the typical Black Ops III style, can be considered somewhat acceptable. It is important to note that expressing a lukewarm opinion on this entry may attract strong criticism, however, we remain indifferent towards Black Ops III as it only meets the standard of being satisfactory. | © Activision

4. Black Ops II

In 2012, the release of Black Ops II brought both positive and negative aspects. While TranZit and Die Rise were disappointing, it’s undeniable that Mob of the Dead and Origins stood out as exceptional maps in the history of CoD Zombies. The game offered a profound experience with a plethora of fantastic content, showcasing a flawless adaptation of the continuously developing formula. This was all made possible by Activision.

3. World at War

The initial Zombies mode brought about a groundbreaking change in game design. It not only kickstarted the CoD Zombies legacy but also served as a source of inspiration for numerous other modes and games – consider Horde in Gears of War or Firefight in Halo! Even today, the maps continue to offer immense enjoyment and are often recreated for other games. While not as advanced as contemporary Zombies modes, it remains a pinnacle of game design! | © Activision

2. Black Ops

For nearly ten years, the original Black Ops game held the esteemed title of having the greatest Zombies mode in the franchise. The main reason for this is undoubtedly the awe-inspiring map, Kino Der Toten. This gem of a map holds a special place in our hearts and is regarded as a timeless classic. It evokes a sense of nostalgia like no other entry in the series. Fond memories of gathering with friends to play split-screen on our Xbox 360, accompanied by copious amounts of Coke and indulging in mouth-watering KFC, will forever be etched in our minds. 1. Black Ops Cold War

Surprisingly, Black Ops Cold War manages to surpass expectations with its exceptional Zombies Mode. Undoubtedly, the game boasts some of the most remarkable maps in Call of Duty history, with Die Maschine and Firebase Z stealing the spotlight. However, Season 2 introduced Outbreak, propelling the game from a potential fifth spot on the list to a well-deserved first place. Treyarch continuously improved upon the mode, incorporating more content in subsequent seasons and revolutionizing the formula with their superb design, enjoyable gameplay, and evident passion. The Zombies mode alone makes Black Ops Cold War a worthwhile purchase, compensating for the lackluster aspects of the rest of the game. – Activision ©
