The Rarest Skins in League of Legends

In League of Legends, there exists a vast collection of skins and cosmetics, yet only a handful of them are considered rare and not commonly spotted in your regular gameplay.

Skins are the means through which Riot Games has consistently generated revenue from its vast player community for an extended period. These cosmetic items serve the sole purpose of distinguishing your champion from others. While you can opt to play as Kayle, donning a Judgement Kayle skin will truly emphasize your dedication to this character.

Are you a casual LoL player and fan of League of Legends who has ever pondered about unattainable skins? Have you ever wondered if there are any LoL skins that are no longer available in the skin shop? And if so, which skins hold the title of being the rarest in League of Legends?

Rarest LoL Skins: What Makes Them So Special?

The concept is quite straightforward: supply and demand. While the demand for skins remains constant, certain skins are no longer available due to their removal from the League of Legends shop or being exclusively redeemable through specific skin codes.

If the skins are no longer available in the shop, their supply decreases while their demand may remain high. Consequently, these skins become both costly and exceptionally rare. For instance, the “X” skin for the League of Legends champion Annie was exclusively obtainable by players who had an account on the game’s 10-year anniversary.

Are there any rare skins available for any of these late game champions?

Likewise, fans have been able to access various skins for special occasions. However, certain skins are no longer available as Riot deemed them unattractive and unfit for continued sale.

If you’ve been playing League of Legends for a long time, you may possess some of these scarce League skins. Given your extensive experience, it’s possible to sell your LoL account for a substantial amount of money, but we’ll delve into the details later in the article. So without further ado, let’s explore the most elusive LoL skins.

What Are the Rarest LoL Skins?

PAX Twisted Fate

PAX Twisted Fate, the inaugural PAX skin, was exclusively distributed to attendees of the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) in 2009. Out of the fortunate multitude, the first 20,000 individuals who graced the event were bestowed with this coveted skin.

After the event concluded, PAX Twisted Fate codes were being sold for as much as $450. Any remaining unused codes for the PAX Twisted Fate skin were rendered inactive. Therefore, if you possess an account with PAX Twisted Fate, it is likely that you could still obtain a significant amount of money in 2021.

PAX Jax

Not only Twisted Fate, but PAX Jax skin was also offered to players at the Penny Arcade Expo. Although the exact number of codes distributed for this skin remains unknown, it is considered one of the most elusive League of Legends skins, implying that only a limited quantity was given away.

PAX Jax is a highly sought-after PAX skin with the potential to bring great wealth. Incredibly, there are individuals willing to pay hundreds of dollars just to have this skin on their account. Does anyone recall their League of Legends password from 2011?

PAX Sivir

In addition, Sivir was also granted a PAX skin during the Penny Arcade Expo in 2011. This particular skin pays homage to the renowned movie Tron. Just like PAX Jax and PAX Twisted Fate, any redeemable codes for this skin were rendered inactive in 2014.

The LoL store made available the ultra-rare Neo PAX Sivir skin in 2017, which is an updated version of PAX Sivir by Riot Games. While the skin retains the original model, it showcases enhanced colors.

Black Alistar

Black Alistar stands as an exceptionally uncommon skin in the realm of League of Legends. Originating in 2009, it holds the distinction of being among the earliest skins ever crafted. This coveted skin was exclusively available to those who pre-ordered the collector’s edition of League of Legends prior to its launch, with approximately 65,000 individuals seizing the opportunity.

If you’re interested in acquiring an account featuring a Black Alistar skin, which closely resembles a standard chroma for Alistar, be prepared to spend a minimum of $500.

Victorious Jarvan IV

Not only is Victorious Jarvan IV not available in shops, but it also holds the distinction of being the very first end of season reward and one of the most elusive skins in the game. Can you think of anyone who played League of Legends in Season 1 and is still actively playing with the same account today?

On account purchasing platforms, certain accounts are priced as high as $900. However, there are also accounts available for a relatively lower price of around $400, indicating the rarity and high demand for this particular skin. Owning an account with Victorious Jarvan IV can potentially lead to significant wealth.

Rusty Blitzcrank

Rusty Blitzcrank, a discontinued skin, was an early attempt by League of Legends that has thankfully been removed from the shop. This skin had no significant improvements and lacked value even as a chroma.

The sole non-legacy skin to ever get eliminated from the shop is widely believed to be removed due to its poor texture, resulting in it closely resembling the default Blitzcrank skin. Many argue that its price of 520 RP was not justified.

Championship Riven

In 2012, Championship Riven made its debut as a legacy skin to commemorate the 2012 World Championship. Since then, Riot has introduced numerous other championship skins, including this year’s release. Interestingly, this particular champion holds the distinction of being the only one with both a championship and victorious skin, courtesy of the Victorious Jarvan IV skin launched in 2011.

If you’re in search of a Championship Riven skin, be prepared to spend approximately $300 for an account featuring this exclusive skin. However, it’s worth noting that the prices tend to increase as you explore further options.

Silver Kayle

In 2009, Silver Kayle was introduced alongside the collector’s edition and three additional skins. Over time, this skin has gained immense rarity and is now highly sought after, with accounts featuring this skin being valued at approximately $80.

The skin in question is highly uncommon, making it accessible to only a select few. Obtaining this skin has become nearly impossible for the majority, unless they are willing to purchase an account that already possesses the unlocked skin. There are no alternative means of acquiring it.

Young Ryze

In 2009, another skin was introduced that shared similarities with the Black Alistar skin. This particular skin could be acquired by pre-ordering the collectors’ edition.

If you’re interested in acquiring a Young Ryze or Human Ryze skin in today’s market, be prepared to spend a significant amount of money. To be precise, a League of Legends account featuring the Human Ryze skin can fetch a price as high as $160.

Annieversary

League of Legends commemorated its 10th anniversary in 2019 by gifting players a unique skin for Annie called the ‘Annieversary’ skin. This exceptional skin features Tibbers sporting a Teemo hat, adding to its iconic status.

Currently, this skin may not be classified as rare, but it is predicted to become increasingly rare over time. It can only be obtained through Riot’s 10-year-anniversary event, making it quite exclusive. Therefore, if you created your account after 2019, acquiring this skin might prove challenging.

UFO Corki

Players who had registered their account before January 14, 2010 were fortunate enough to receive the exclusive skin, UFO Corki. However, those who registered after that date were not able to obtain this unique skin.

Selling a League of Legends account containing this particular skin can fetch approximately $90. While it may not reach the same value as Black Alistar, considering it is purely cosmetic, this is still a considerable amount.

  • Although UFO Corki may no longer be accessible, you can still opt for regular Corki.

King Rammus

King Rammus, a rare skin in League of Legends, was released prior to the game’s public launch. Players who had taken part in the closed beta were bestowed with this exclusive LoL skin.

King Rammus skin-enhanced LoL accounts generally fetch approximately $60, which is quite a substantial amount considering the skin’s age and lack of distinctiveness.

Are there Other Notable Rare Skins?

In addition to that, there are several other distinct skins that are highly sought after due to their rarity. Certain skins were specifically released to commemorate special events, such as the Vancouver Amumu skin which was launched to celebrate the 2010 Winter Olympics held in Vancouver.

When playing League of Legends these days, it’s rare to come across skins like Riot Squad Singed, Medieval Twitch, and Victorious Janna.

How Rare are Legacy Skins?

Legacy skins are a collection of exclusive skins that are not readily accessible in the store. Acquiring these skins usually involves Hextech crafting or receiving them as gifts through the Mystery Gifting feature. It’s worth noting that these skins are typically limited to certain periods throughout the year.

For instance, the Legacy skins, such as any, are typically exclusive to the Harrowing event held around Halloween. The Snowdown skins follow the same pattern.

Are Mythic Skins Considered Rare?

In the realm of League of Legends, there has always been a presence of extraordinary skins known as ‘mythic’ content. These skins were previously only obtainable through the use of gemstones. However, in the year 2022, Riot made a significant alteration by introducing Mythic Essence as the new currency for acquiring these exclusive skins. With this transformation, players can now utilize Mythic Essence to make their desired skin purchases.

In this shop, both regular and Hextech skins are offered on a rotating basis. Additionally, Riot has introduced new mythic themes, featuring exclusive skins that can only be obtained by purchasing Mythic Essence with real currency. It’s worth noting that these skins are not classified as ‘rare’ because they can also be found in Masterwork chests.

Although the skins are exclusive, they cannot be classified as rare.

How Do You Craft Skins in League of Legends?

In your League of Legends client, the crafting tool allows you to create permanent legacy and ultimate skins. Whenever you acquire a skin shard for a rare or legacy skin, you have the option to transform it into a permanent skin. To accomplish this, you can utilize your accumulated Orange Essence, which is obtained by disenchanting unwanted skins. By combining the Orange Essence with the respective skin shard, you can unlock the skin permanently.

By opening hextech chests in League of Legends, you can obtain rare skins. However, please note that certain highly sought-after skins such as PAX Sivir, Black Alistar, and Young Ryze cannot be acquired through this method.
