Moonfall 2 Unlikely To Happen, But Not Out Of Question

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I highly doubt it will happen. Despite Emmerich’s initial plans for a trilogy, the movie did not perform well at the box office, making it unlikely for Lionsgate to greenlight a sequel. This situation is similar to what happened with Independence Day 3, which Roland Emmerich had planned but never materialized due to the failure of Independence Day: Resurgence in theaters. However, Emmerich has kept the possibility of a sequel open, much like he did with Moonfall.

There is an even lower probability of a direct sequel due to Roland Emmerich’s recent announcement to retire from his career. Although he plans to create one final film, it is certain that it will not be Moonfall 2.

Perhaps Moonfall will receive a sequel in the near future.
